A Close Look at the 21 ½ Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner by All-American
Home canning has been an annual event since the beginning of time. Before fridges, freezers and canning companies were invented, home canning was the only way to ensure your family would have fruits and vegetables throughout the winter. A pressure cooker makes home canning so much easier. Some home-canners might even say it is impossible to get a proper seal on your jars without a pressure cooker. One very important thing to remember, though, when cooking a stew in your pressure cooker, never try to remove the lid until the pressure is properly released. Removing the lid too soon can cause serious injury to you and make a huge mess in your kitchen! Read and follow the instructions very carefully!
Safety rules to follow to a T
- Never handle hot pot with your bare hands – a no-brainer
- When cooking expanding vegetables or rice, never fill past the half-way mark including liquids or other additives
- Never apply a cold wet cloth to the cooker or pour cold water on it when it is hot
- Always wait for the pressure gauge to drop to zero before opening the lid
- Always open the lid away from you – another no-brainer
There are many more rules in the owner’s manual. Read everything Very carefully and obey! A pressure cooker is a great tool, and just like any tool, it must be used properly for the best results and for your safety.

The All-American seals in all the flavor and juices. The large size allows you to do more, quicker. You can have all your canning done to perfection in half the time. You can have the juiciest peaches and crispiest pickles that taste as good in March as they did the previous November.

The large size
This cooker is great for feeding a very large family, cooking for a dinner party or preparing for a pot-luck - it may be a bit big for every day meals. The large size is perfect for canning. It can hold 19 pint sized jars or 7 quart sized jars.
Cooking a stew with a pressure cooker is quick and easy.
You can use this pressure cooker to cook the most scrumptious stew in less than half the time. Just heat a few tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Toss in beef chunks and sear on all sides. Then remove the beef and set aside. Saute your onions for a few minutes then add garlic and saute a few minutes more. Return the beef to the pot, add a bottle of stout beer, a twig of thyme and bay leaf. Mix it all together then lock on the lid.
Bring the pressure up to high and cook for approximately twenty minutes. Then remove the pressure cooker from the heat and very carefully quick release the pressure and let stand for about five minutes before removing the lid. Add carrots, potatoes, celery (if desired), replace the lid and bring back up to high pressure. Cook for about five more minutes. Season to taste and enjoy!
Creating preserves that will last all winter.
There is nothing so satisfying as grabbing a jar of preserves from the pantry and saying “I made this myself.” There are many books available to help. You can get great tips, tricks and recipes for creative, tasty preserves. You will be proud to give your preserves as gifts to family and friends, as well!
The All-American pressure cooker seals in the natural flavors quickly. The faster the lid on the jar seals, the better the juices and natural flavors are preserved. And the large size gets the job done in half the time. Sure, canning might be fun, but getting results is the best part! The more jars you can put into your cooker at a time, the more jars you can preserve in a day. You may never buy a can of peas again!

What Others Are Saying
This pressure cooker seems to be a complete success. People can’t say enough great things about the All-American Pressure Cooker. The pressure gauge prevents over-blowing – a big problem with other models. That is how pressure cookers got their bad reputation for being dangerous.
- “This is a very high quality, heavy weight canner. It practically screams, “Industrial strength!””
- “I give this five stars as a canner, and three as a cooker”
- “Buy this and pass it on to your grandchildren!!!”
- “I’ll make 2 chickens at a time, that way I won’t have to cook another night.”
Any Complaints?
There were very few complaints. But, as with everything, there is always the occasional person that can’t be pleased.
- “What poor craftmanship, so much for American made! Thank god they replaced it with an perfect one!”
- “The first one we ordered refused to seal so they replaced it on warranty. The second one seals 10 out of 10 tries!!”
Where can I buy this?
There are several on-line sites that offer the All-American 21 ½ Pressure Cooker/Canner, but Amazon offers the best prices and usually ships the cooker for free. Since it is extra heavy, it has to be shipped separately from the rest of your order, but they don’t charge any extra for that.
